Broadband has been available in Edenbridge for several years now. TalkTalk recently installed their own equipment into the Edenbridge exchange, and are now offering FREE Broadband* to Edenbridge residents

* Broadband is FREE when you pay TalkTalk for line rental & call plan
You have to be connected to the Edenbridge exchange, so if your phone number is 01732 86xxxx you can connect with TalkTalk and get broadband for FREE. Up to 8Mb and a massive 40Gb download limit. There's a £30 connection fee, and an 18 month contract. But apart from that it's painless to move from a BT or Virgin phone line, and you also keep your existing phone number.
Why is it that TalkTalk are the only ones offering FREE broadband in Edenbridge? That's simple. All other ADSL broadband providers use BT's equipment, and therefore are charged for its rental. As TalkTalk have installed their own equipment, they can offer their services at a lower cost. There are plenty of "LLU" broadband providers, such as Sky, Tiscali, O2, and Orange. But TalkTalk is the only one, so far, that has invested in Edenbridge. It's likely that others will also do so in the future, but at the moment there's no published plans from any of them
Edenbridge continues to "punch above it's weight", when it comes to broadband. I was involved with campaigning to bring broadband to Edenbridge in 2003, some 5 years ago now. For many, there's a choice of broadband available. ADSL (BT or TalkTalk), Cable (Virgin/Telewest), or Wireless (LTT)
